Renee was the lucky winner of the very first giveaway I held on Facebook last year. At the time, we began planning a summer photo session for Renee, her boyfriend and their pit bull named Princess. But as it got closer to our session date, I learned that the couple was pretty serious so I thought there was the chance that an engagement may be coming soon. I reached out to Renee's boyfriend, Dominick, and suggested the idea of popping the question during our session so that I could document it, but it turns out he already had very elaborate plans to propose the night before. I swore to keep it a secret in exchange for all of the details, and the chance to meet him at the spot where it would all go down to document it for them.
Renee and Dom's morning started with a couple's massage. When Renee went to leave, Dom was nowhere in sight but he had left a note with an employee to give to Renee. This note would kick off an all day scavenger hunt leading up to the big moment, with stops including a jewelry store (where she was given another Alex and Ani bracelet to add to her collection) and the place they first met. Each clue was typed up and glued to a set of hearts, each with a number on the front spelling out a date that would soon have a special meaning to the couple.
I met up with Dom that evening at the Island Heights Municipal Dock and hid out in the top of the gazebo as he waited anxiously with their girl Princess, wearing a special bejeweled collar and a sign reading "Will You Marry Me?" The final clue instructed Renee to text Dom for more information and he sent her his location. It was such a sweet way to propose and I am so glad I was able to capture part of it. This meant that our session scheduled for the following day was now an engagement session! Below are some photos from both the proposal and their e-session that followed. These two are just the cutest!
